About Me - Alexa Vella
Integrative Health Coach

I am a triple board-certified practitioner who specializes in personalized and integrative health coaching. I have been working in the health and wellness space since 2004. My first job was at Curves where I served as a lead coach helping women manage their weight. In 2012, I became Board-Certified as a Recreational Therapist and worked at Kessler Institute, a top-ranked rehabilitation center. From there, I moved on to manage the Recreational Therapy department at AristaCare, a skilled nursing and subacute facility. While these roles were undeniably rewarding, I felt as if something was missing in my life and career.

Working in traditional healthcare settings provided me with a consistent reminder of flaws that exist within many systems. That was exacerbated after losing my father to leukemia in 2018. I realized, on a personal level, that pieces are too often lacking from the full treatment model. I felt that there had to be a different way to provide personalized care that would result in lasting and effective change and, in some cases, an overall improved quality of life. I feel that health coaches help fill the gap by walking alongside clients, and sometimes working with their healthcare team. I spent a lot of time reflecting during my father's final months, and I knew that my purpose was much larger than what I was able to do working in a long-term care facility.

Losing my dad at 27 was life changing. It led me to embark on a healing and educational journey, and I enrolled in multiple accredited institutions to gain additional credentials to my practice. I decided to take a huge leap and start my own business, which has been incredibly freeing. I strive to encourage and support my clients in making lasting change in their lives. The style of coaching is in alignment with my values, as it empowers the individual as opposed to the common one-sided expert approach in traditional healthcare. Perhaps most importantly, I am able to fuse my passion for food and cooking into my practice - something I have dreamed about for as long as I can remember. That's good livin'!

The name "Good Livin'" is a tribute to my father, who embraced those words as his motto in life.
